'Transparent' to End with Upcoming Fifth Season
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
It's time to say goodbye to the Pfeffermans.
"Transparent" will come to an end with its upcoming fifth season, creator Jill Soloway confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news comes in a THR profile piece about the show's former lead actor, Jeffrey Tambor, who played Maura Pfeffermans, a retired professor who comes out as a trans woman late in life. Tambor was fired by Amazon after his former personal assistant and a cast member of "Transparent," who are both trans women, accused the actor of sexual misconduct.
As "Transparent" heads into its fifth and final season without Tambor, the Emmy award-winning comedy is figuring out how to move forward without its star.
"Hopefully [the season] sets the Pfeffermans up with some sort of beautiful reclaiming," This text will be the linkSoloway told THR. "I think we're going to get there with some time."
Though Soloway did not reveal how the "Transparent" team will deal with Maura, Tambor discussed his character Maura by using "the terminology of death and grieving," THR writes. He said he's reading books about death and "says he still has regular conversations out loud with Maura and is deeply disappointed that she won't ever get 'to find her significant other.'"
An air date for "Transparent" Season 5 has not been announced.
