The devil you know will be blazing back when a sequel to the beloved 2006 hit "The Devil Wears Prada" hits movie screens on May 1 of 2026, ABC News reported.
As previously detailed, advance word on the film's plot sees Meryl Streep's character, Miranda Priestly, sidling up once again to former assistant, Emily (played in the original by Emily Blunt).
But it's not out of simple friendship, Variety detailed.
The original movie was centered on the travails of Anne Hathaway's character, Andy, as she struggles to adapt to the hectic pace of her job as an assistant to the demanding Priestly.
"The next chapter reportedly follows Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and as she faces off against Blunt's character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs," the entertainment news outlet relayed.
"The movie could also incorporate plot points of the book sequel, 'Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns,' which was released in 2013," People Magazine detailed. "The novel takes place nearly a decade after the original and sees Andy and Emily come together as top magazine editors when Miranda comes sneaking back into Andy's life."
It's not yet known for sure whether the iconic characters will be played by the same actors as before.
"Though it was reported last year that Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt would be returning," Variety noted, "no cast members have been officially confirmed."
"Stanley Tucci, who starred in the original 'Devil Wears Prada,' recently told Variety, 'I know they're working on it,'" the writeup added. "If it happens, I would be so happy," he said, "but I cannot give you any information."
