EDGE Rewind: Grindr Reveals Which Countries have the Most Tops, Bottoms & More with Unwrapped 2021

EDGE is reaching into its archive and sharing some of our favorite stories from the past.

Keeping with last year's tradition, Grindr once again took a note from Spotify and shared its own version of the year "unwrapped" – or sharing a number of statistics about its users. Like in 2020, the new 2021 report is a breakdown of a number of trends amongst the app's users, including which country has the most tops and bottoms, top songs in profiles, and much more.

"Even with some in-person activities resuming, virtual connection has remained a lifeline for people this year," Grindr's Director of Marketing Alex Black said in a statement. "Grindr Unrwapped is a playful way to help our users get to know each other better, it serves as an ice-breaker for conversations on the app, and provides some interesting insights into trends from the past year."

In the breakdown, Grindr found that the highest number of tops reside in the Philippines as well as Columbia, Argentina, India and Israel. As for bottoms, most app users live in Vietnam, South Africa, China, Poland and Peru. Grindr didn't forget about its vers users. Costa Rica, Romania, Venezuela, Russia and Czech Republic lay claim to them. Other stats include highest percent of users who are in open relationships (India, Thailand, Switzerland, Vietnam, Algeria)

In the U.S., Grindr found that New York City has the highest percentage of users "looking for right now while San Francisco had the highest percentage of shared face pics and Hawaii had the highest percentage of users who accept NSFW pics. Additionally, the top 5 most used tags o the app were: vaccinated, kissing, discreet, FWB and cuddling. And for songs, the most popular tracks were "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat and SZA, "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" by Lil Nas X, "Rain On Me" by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, "Easy on Me" by Adele and "Happier Than Ever" by Billie Eilish.
