Broadway's Best Comes Out to Celebrate Liza Minnelli's 75th Birthday

Stars of stage and screen will gather on March 12 to celebrate Liza Minnelli on her 75th birthday. The event will stream on Stellar (8 p.m. ET) and include performances, tributes and birthday wishes.

Minnelli's co-stars, friends, and admirers from coast to coast–from Hollywood to Broadway–will honor the iconic singer, actress, recording star and concert performer, including Joel Grey, Lily Tomlin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Chita Rivera, Joan Collins, Harry Connick, Jr., Ben Vereen and the dancers from the Verdon-Fosse Legacy, Ute Lemper, Billy Stritch, Charles Busch, Kathie Lee Gifford, Lea Delaria, Jim Caruso, Jonathan Groff, Sandra Bernhard, Andrew Rannells, Nathan Lane, Mario Cantone, Tony Hale, Coco Peru, John Cameron Mitchell, Michele Lee, Andrea Martin, Seth Sikes, Neil Meron and more.

"Liza is a total entertainer, a show person the likes of which is hard to find these days. Liza's talents have known no bounds, and her contribution to Broadway, film and even a hilarious stint on television's 'Arrested Development' makes her so deserving of this, a glorious celebration of her 75 years on Earth, said producer Daniel Nardicio. "I'm thrilled to be able to do this for Liza and for her friends and fans in a safe, socially distant way to say we all love you Liza–Happy Birthday, Darling!"

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to The Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment. Through offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, The Fund serves everyone in film, theater, television, music, opera, radio and dance with programs including social services and emergency financial assistance, health care and insurance counseling, housing, and secondary employment and training services.

Minnelli, the daughter of Judy Garland and film director Vincente Minnelli, made her first professional television appearance at age 13 on "The Gene Kelly Show." For the past 60 years, she's appeared in countless films and television shows, winning an Academy Award in 1973 for her performance in "Cabaret." No stranger to the stage, Minnelli has appeared on Broadway eight times in both musicals and concerts. She's won three Tony Awards, including a special award in 1974 for "adding luster to the Broadway season."

Minnelli's off-screen and off-stage life has been equally dramatic. Married four times, her first husband (Peter Allen) later came out as gay. Her fourth husband, David Gest, was also rumored to be gay but never publically came out before his death in 2016.

Minnelli collaborated with some of the very best in the entertainment industry, working with Bob Fosse on her one-woman show, "Liza," and often putting her signature stamp on the music of Kander and Ebb.
