Ryan Murphy's upcoming limited Netflix series about the late fashion designer Halston has cast the show's Liza Minnelli.

Deadline reports "Smash" actor Krysta Rodriguez play the Hollywood icon and star opposite Ewan McGregor, who has been cast as the designer, in "Halston." Minnelli served as one of Halston's biggest muses in the '70s.

There's not many details about the series, but Murphy shared some footage on his Instagram, which has since been deleted, that showed McGregor as Halston. Murphy also wrote that the show had begun filming. "Halston" was apparently in development before Murphy's multi-million dollar deal with Netflix and was written by Share White ("The Affair") and will be directed by Dan Minahan, who worked on Murphy's FX series "The Assassination of Versace: American Crime Story."

Halston rose as a designer in the '70s, best known for designing Jackie Kennedy's hats before his downfall and losing his company in the '80s and dying of AIDS-related complications at just 57 years of age.

"Halston" will also star Rory Culkin as Joel Schumacher, Rebecca Davan as Elsa Peretti, David Pittu as Joe Eula, Gian Franco Rodriguez as Victor Hugo, and more.
