Trump Dodges Question About Roy Moore's Stance on Gay Sex

During a press conference at the White House Rose Garden Tuesday, President Donald Trump took questions from reporters. One asked Trump point blank if he agreed with U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore's views on gay sex.

Moore has been outspoken when it comes to LGBTQ issues, and in 2015 said homosexuality should be illegal in the U.S.

"Sodomy was declared illegal by the United States Supreme Court in 1987," Moore said at the time. "It said there was no right under the constitution to enlarge the fundamental rights of homosexuals."

When asked if he agreed with Moore's comments, Trump avoided answering the question, AL.com reports.

"I'm going to be meeting with Roy sometime next week and we're going to talk to him about a lot of different things, but I'll be meeting with him," Trump responded. "He ran a very strong race."

"The people of Alabama, who I like very much and they like me very much -- but they like Roy, and we'll be talking to him and I can report to you then, OK?" he added.

Moore recently won the Republican primary to fill Jeff Sessions' Senate seat in Alabama.
