Summer's End: Get Groomed With These 3 Essentials

Matthew Wexler READ TIME: 3 MIN.

The eclipse has passed and the sun is back to its fabulous, ultraviolet self. Perhaps you've spent your weekends at the beach, or poolside with a cocktail in hand. Or maybe you've taken advantage of the weather to go on a wind-blasted outdoor adventure. In any case, your skin needs some TLC, and EDGE has the solution for an epidermis pick-me-up.

LAB SERIES Pro LS
Before it was "a thing," Este Lauder had its hand in men's grooming, dating back to the 1987 launch of LAB SERIES Skincare for Men. Now available in 30 countries, the collection is a definitive benchmark for men's skincare. Not to be outdone, earlier this year, LAB SERIES released ultra-light face gels to clean and hydrate.

Perfect for the last dog days of summer, the products offer a slight cooling sensation and the brand's signature clean scent. The all-in-one cleansing gel gently lathers while offering nourishing agents to condition skin, while the hydrating gel is lightweight and absorbs quickly, leaving a matted, shine-free finish.

Kiehl's 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser & Masque
We love products (and people) that can multi-task, and Kiehl's latest launch fits the bill. Part of its Ultimate Age Defender Line for Men (introduced last year), this one-two punch saves room on the bathroom shelf and can be used as a foaming cleanser or refining masque.

Formulated with Moroccan lava clay and plant-derived phytic acid, the black-hued formula exfoliates and removes excess oils with a quick wash. Use up to three times per week for up to five minutes as a masque for younger-looking skin, though use sparingly and test first, as our first round yielded redness that faded after several hours. (Perhaps consider using as a masque before bed versus before a date -- lesson learned!)

Did you know that men start with thicker dermis and epidermis than women, but by age fifty, it's equivalent? Men also experience a loss of hydration and deeper expression lines. With Moroccan lava clay sourced from the Atlas Mountains and Japanese phytic acid (derived from rice bran), this 2-in-1 will have you fresh-faced for fall.

Kiehl's Age Defender Dual Action Exfoliating Cleanser, $28/150 ml.

All Good Sport Sunscreen
If there's one bit of advice to impart to you at summer's end, it's sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Even as the days start to cool down, the sun's UVA/UVB rays can do significant damage. All Good is a lifestyle brand that offers a range of organic body care products that are not only good for you but also good for the environment. Sunscreens are "reef friendly" and non-toxic to aquatic environments. Products are also cruelty-free (never tested on animals) and for those with skin sensitivities and/or health issues, the sunscreens are GMO and gluten free as well as vegan.

All Good's new sport sunscreen formulation is water resistant for 80 minutes and features organic green tea, rose hips and buriti oil. Yes, the non-nano, zinc-only cream will require a bit of massaging for absorption, or try the spray for broader coverage. Keep a sunstick on hand for your nose or ears, and don't forget about your lips with SPF 20 lip balm (available in unscented or coconut).

All Good SPF 30 Sport Sunscreen, $15.99/3 oz.
