Preacher Who Praised Orlando Shootings Would Be OK With Gov Executing Gays

Pastor Roger Jimenez, the anti-gay preacher who made headlines for a sermon he gave hours after the mass shooting in Orlando, has clarified his statement to the press. And his clarification might be even worse than his original sermon.

"Are you sad that 50 pedophiles were killed today?" said Jimenez of the Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento to congregants on Sunday. "Um no, I think that's great! I think that helps society. I think Orlando, Florida is a little safer tonight."

"If we lived in a righteous government, they should round them all up and put them up against a firing wall, and blow their brains out," Jimenez added in the sermon.

Jimenez's comments, which set off a firestorm of outrage with local politicians, was removed from his YouTube channel in violation of the company's hate speech policy.

After dodging reporters for a day, Jimenez granted an interview with local ABC affiliate KXTV.

"The bible does teach that homosexuality deserves the death penalty," Jimenez said. "My whole point was, if people die who deserve to die, we don't need to be mourning that. This gunman there that shot people up, the bible says he deserves to die, he died and we shouldn't be mourning his death, either. That's the whole point I was making, and it's been taken out of context."

And while Jimenez claims that he is against ordinary citizens taking up arms to kill gays, he's more than OK with the government stepping in and following "the laws of God."

When asked to clarify whether he was saying that he'd support the government killing gay people, Jimenez said, "I would be fine. I would be totally okay with that, if the government did that. That's what they would do, if we lived in a righteous nation."
